Khalid Jamal

Khalid Jamal was born in Portugal, son of Indian and Arab origin families. His academic career was at Valsassina College, at the Portuguese Catholic University and at Harvard Business School, where he did a summer course.

Teacher of Tajwid, Khalid Jamal presence stands out with his journey at the Islamic Community of Lisbon starting at the Cultural Commission, with various activities in the recreational and cultural areas, then going to the Islamic Community Direction Board and presiding over the Legal Office created by himself. Khalid makes presence also at the Advisory Board of the Luso-Arab Institute for Cooperation and at the recent created Observatory of the Islamic World.

Khalid is also the Vice-president of the Board of the Firefighter Association of Lisbon and president of the Advisory Board of the Portugal India Business Hub. Member of the Geographical Society of Lisbon and the Historical Society of the Independence of Portugal, Khalid is a Knight of the Order since 2019.

After meeting Pope Francis, Khalid become a member of the Commission on Journalism and Religious Traditions – a working group born in Rome, coordinated by the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce Faculty of Communication and the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the ISCOM Association, for the purpose of promoting excellence in religious communication.

Khalid was an honored guest of the US Government, under a program entitled IVLP – International Visitors Leadership Program, which theme is the Interfaith Meeting Dialogue and Religious Freedom.

Khalid holds a unique world program in Portuguese National Radio (Antena 1) – a radio show entitled “And God Created the World”, where him among a Jewish and a catholic colleague discuss several themes of religious actuality.
