Every year refugees’ families travel about 2 billion kilometers in search for security and protection. Millions of families are forced to leave their homes behind and escape from violence and persecution. This is the story of Fatima Ghannam and her family. Fatima was forced to flee from everything she had and knew in Syria. As many other families, they endured several adversities, having to slept in the streets and being refused to enter in several European countries. This deprived them of their rights and made them feel rejected and unwanted. Then they came to Portugal as the first Syrian family in the scope of Portuguese resettlement Program, Fatima found a new family and home and right now she is the Chef of Mezze, the Syrian restaurant in Lisbon.
